Every year, the University of Southampton offers the University of Southampton Undergraduate Merit Scholarships which is a range of subject scholarship awards to international undergraduate scholars. They are granted based on academic merit. You can obtain a maximum of £3,000, which will be discounted from your tuition fees.

The University of Southampton was established as a research academic institution in Southampton, England. The university stems from the establishment of the Hartley Institution in 1862. By 1902, the college had developed to become Hartley University College, awarding certificates from the University of London.

The college was granted its own university title on April 29, 1952, affording it the status of a full-grown university, which enabled it to deliver diplomas autonomously.

The University of Southampton presently has around 15,790 undergraduates and 6,925 postgraduates, which makes the school one of the South East’s biggest university of graduate scholars. The University of Southampton Undergraduate Merit Scholarships is now available to foreign candidates. This scholarship award is for candidates seeking one or more of the listed undergraduate programs at the University:

  • Humanities and Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering, Environmental and Life Sciences.

Benefits of University of Southampton Undergraduate Merit Scholarships

The University of Southampton Undergraduate Merit Scholarships offers a reduction of up to £3,000 on your tuition fees.

You will obtain a reduction of £1,000 for every qualification (or equivalent) that you have. The grades you require is based on which School will teach your undergraduate program.

For instance, you’ll get £2,000 if:

  • you’re putting in to study a program delivered by the School of Chemistry
  • you possess 2 International Baccalaureate awards at grade 6

Eligibility for University of Southampton Undergraduate Merit Scholarships

To be eligible for the award, the applicants have to satisfy all of the requirements listed below:

  • Be an international student;
  • The tuition expenses have to be covered by the student;
  • Possess a qualified or unqualified Southampton offer;
  • Take a qualifying course;
